About the Role

Join HighlandHearts HomeCare as a HR Officer, providing operational HR support within a dynamic care-at-home environment. As we expand across the Highlands, this role helps maintain smooth people operations and strong compliance.

Key responsibilities:

  • Manage end-to-end recruitment: job postings, shortlisting, scheduling interviews.
  • Conduct right-to-work and initial onboarding for carers.
  • Assist with payroll data entry, maintaining HR records and HRIS.
  • Support induction, training scheduling (e.g. Care Certificate), and appraisal logistics.
  • Handle basic employee relations: leave tracking, absence management, low-level issues escalation.
  • Maintain HR policy documents and support updates to reflect regulatory guidance.
  • Support sponsor compliance: record retention, holiday documentation, and CoS record-keeping.

You’ll bring:

  • HR or business-focused diploma or comparable experience (RQF 3–4 level).
  • Prior experience in HR admin or support in regulated or shift-based settings.
  • Good understanding of UK right-to-work, recruitment process, onboarding, and basic ER.
  • Strong organisational, digital (e.g. HRIS, Excel) and communication skills.
  • Empathy and team-oriented mindset—particularly in care and frontline support.

Essential Requirements

  • Education:
    • Diploma or Degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, or a related field (minimum RQF Level 3 equivalent).
    • International equivalent qualifications will be considered if recognised in the UK.
  • Experience:
    • At least 1–2 years’ HR administration or officer-level experience, ideally in health, social care, hospitality, or other regulated/shift-based environments.
    • Proven track record in recruitment administration, onboarding, or payroll support.
  • Knowledge:
    • Good understanding of UK employment law basics (contracts, absence, leave entitlements).
    • Familiarity with right-to-work checks and UKVI record-keeping duties.
    • Awareness of safeguarding principles and safer recruitment in care settings (training will be provided).
  • Skills:
    • Strong organisational and time-management abilities with attention to detail.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication in English (CEFR B1 or above required for visa sponsorship).
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and HR information systems (HRIS).
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately.

Desirable Requirements

  • CIPD Level 3 or higher (or working towards qualification).
  • Experience supporting disciplinary, grievance, or absence management processes.
  • Previous work in a care-at-home or healthcare organisation.
  • Knowledge of SSSC Codes of Practice and Scottish Health & Social Care Standards.
  • Experience with digital HR systems (e.g., BrightHR, PeopleHR, or similar).
